The classes at Brushstrokes studio are geared toward students of all painting levels—beginner through advanced. We paint primarily decorative accent pieces for the home, as well as small occasional pieces of furniture. These include seasonal decorations for your doors, walls, tables, mantle, and yard, in addition to pieces like plant stands, end or side tables, stools, trays, chairs, benches, lamps, and cabinets. Brushstrokes classes are offered in an ongoing, once-weekly format, in which the student works comfortably at his or her own pace. Each class is 3 hours long. The student is responsible for supplying his or her own supplies, such as brushes, palette paper, sealer, varnish, etc. The project surface may be purchased from the teacher or provided by the student, as desired. The class fee is $10.00 per 3 hour class, paid monthly. I also offer classes in a seminar setting, in which an entire project is finished in one sitting. The seminar classes are generally taught once a month on a Saturday or on occasion on both a Saturday and Sunday, depending on the project. They are held from 10 a.m. until 4 or 5 p.m., with a break for lunch. During this class period, the project will be basically completed, with the exception of perhaps some repetitious detail work and varnishing. The seminar classes are usually a little more challenging than the weekly classes. Brushstrokes is a home based business with a large, clean, well-lit studio located in my walk-out basement. The studio is full of sample projects that I have painted over the last 19 years at various seminars, national conventions, and on my own. I offer retail sales of most basic supplies necessary and have an assortment of brushes and surfaces on hand. I am happy to special order anything else you might need and can generally offer a 10% to 15% discount. When I place these group orders, I can usually save you at least the shipping costs you would incur when ordering from other outlets. This summary is a brief description of how Brushstrokes operates. I will be happy to answer any further questions you might have. Of course, you are welcome to visit the studio. Please call ahead for an appointment. Thank you for your interest!
